November in Tijuana opens with Día de Muertos and a clock change and closes with U.S. Thanksgiving weekend. In between, the venue calendar is already filling up: two heavy nights at Dragón Rojo, a Saturday with four shows at once, a Monday concert on the Revolution Day holiday and Ricardo Arjona at Estadio Caliente. Here is what is listed as of Oct. 13. Dates and venues come from Songkick and the outlets cited below. Prices and sellers are on each show’s listing, and details can change, so check before you buy.
Sunday, Nov. 1: Day of the Dead and the time change
The free Día de Muertos festival and parade take over downtown on Nov. 1, starting at the Mercado Benito Juárez; our event page has the times and the route. It is also the last day of the Tijuana book fair at Parque Morelos, which opens Oct. 23. And set your clock: Baja California turns its clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. that Sunday, according to El Imparcial.
Friday, Nov. 6: heavy, and indie
- Dying Fetus, with Tyrian, at Dragón Rojo. Songkick lists doors at 7 p.m.
- Los Vaguens at La Maquila Estación Cultural.
Saturday, Nov. 14: four rooms, one night
- Jacinto at Black Box.
- Unperro andaluz at La Maquila.
- Batopilas at Bar Espina.
- Rubytates at Marko Disko. Eric has reviewed Marko Disko if you haven’t been.
Monday, Nov. 16: the Revolution Day long weekend
Revolution Day is Friday, Nov. 20, but the official day off is Monday, Nov. 16, which turns it into a long weekend for many workers in Mexico, Fox Sports México reported from the federal labor calendar. That Monday night, Beéle plays the esplanade at Estadio Caliente, with doors at 9 p.m., per Songkick. If you are crossing back after the show, check the border wait before you leave.
Nov. 20–22: Mac DeMarco, Daniel Boaventura and D.R.I.
- Mac DeMarco plays Antiguo Cine Bujazán on Friday, Nov. 20, a date that was already on the Mexico tour list Los40 published in March. Songkick lists doors at 9 p.m.
- Daniel Boaventura plays El Foro on Saturday, Nov. 21.
- D.R.I. closes the weekend at Dragón Rojo on Sunday, Nov. 22.
Thursday, Nov. 26: Arjona on Thanksgiving
Ricardo Arjona brings his Lo Que El Seco No Dijo tour to Estadio Caliente on Thursday, Nov. 26, and BuenaMúsica lists the show for 7 p.m. That is also U.S. Thanksgiving. If you are driving back to San Diego that weekend, check CBP’s border wait times and our border crossing guide before you head out.
Before you buy
- Buy through the seller the venue or promoter names. Resale sites list many of these shows too, often at higher prices.
- We are leaving one date out for now: Leire Martínez’s Tijuana show appears with different dates on different listings. We will add it once the date is confirmed.
- Bring ID to bar and club shows, and plan your ride home before the last song.
Plan the rest of your trip with our guides, and see every event we have confirmed so far on the calendar.
