Bar Espina is one of the small rooms that keep Tijuana’s independent music scene alive. It is at Avenida Constitución 720, local 17, in Zona Centro, one block west of Avenida Revolución, tucked into a commercial passage rather than sitting on a storefront. Local event listings describe it as an alternative space for independent music, and its 2026 calendar backs that up: Spanish singer-songwriter Rebe in May, Sistema de Entretenimiento on October 1, Ethan Uno on October 17 and Dinamarca on October 31. It is for people who like to see an artist in a small room rather than a hall, and who are happy to be downtown but off the Revolución strip.

The vibe

Intimate is the word every listing uses. A bar, a small stage, a close crowd that came for the artist. Doors on show nights have opened around 7 p.m. with sets at 8 or so; events are sold as tickets, and the room fills with fans rather than passers-by. Outside of shows it is a bar on a quieter side of downtown, a contrast to the noise of Revolución and the Sexta.

What to expect

Independent and alternative music in Spanish and English: indie pop, singer-songwriters, electronic-leaning acts and local bands. Shows are announced through the venue’s social media and picked up by Tijuana Eventos, Songkick and HazTJ. Expect a single headliner with a support act, a sound system sized for the room, and beer and basic drinks at the bar. Tickets are sold through platforms such as Arema and Boletia.

Prices and entry

Recent shows ran 250 pesos presale and 300 pesos general (Ethan Uno), and 300 pesos as an early-bird price (Rebe), plus service charges. Listed shows are classified for adults (18+). No regular cover or opening hours are published for non-show nights; check the venue’s social pages before heading over on a night without a listed event.

Getting there

Avenida Constitución runs parallel to Revolución one block west. Number 720 is in the northern part of downtown, roughly ten to fifteen minutes on foot from the San Ysidro pedestrian crossing; a taxi or ride-hail gets you there faster, and the address works in the apps. Paid parking is on the side streets. Border Psycho Cantina on Revolución is close by, and the Sexta is a short walk south.

Good to know

  • Buy tickets ahead for touring acts; the room is small, and listings showed sales closed before the date in 2026.
  • Bring ID for the door.
  • Times posted online are door times; the headliner comes on later.
  • Save the ticket QR offline in case your phone loses signal downtown.
