Vintage cocktails in the old Jai Alai building

1930 Bar Lounge is a cocktail lounge inside the old Jai Alai palace on Avenida Revolución, the downtown landmark that also houses the concert hall El Foro. Campestre magazine, which profiled the bar in April 2026, described it as a tribute to the Tijuana of the 1930s, the era of the Agua Caliente hotel and casino, when, as the magazine tells it, visitors included Rita Hayworth, Dolores del Río and Al Capone.

The vibe

Campestre described green tones, dozens of historical photographs of early 20th-century Tijuana on the walls and wide sofas made for staying a while. The listing site TJGram calls it a vintage-themed bar with a speakeasy feel. The soundtrack runs to jazz, blues and rock, with Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis among the references, and Campestre reported live saxophone and vocals on Fridays and Spanish-language pop on Saturdays.

The drinks and food

Three mixologists certified by the Asociación Mexicana de Bartenders run the bar, according to Campestre, which named a few house cocktails: the Clandestino (Aperol, pineapple juice, agave honey and lime), El Capón (made with basil) and El Catrín (mezcal, hibiscus and ancho chile). Regulars can keep their own bottle in a personal locker. To eat, the magazine listed cold-cut and cheese boards, olives, mini Colombian empanadas and boneless chicken.

What to expect

It’s an evening bar. TJGram lists opening at 4 p.m. and closing at 10 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, at midnight on Thursday and at 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday; it shows no hours for Sunday or Monday. It also hosts weddings and private events, along with cocktail workshops and cultural activities, Campestre reported. In October 2025, for example, it staged That’s Vegas!, a cabaret tribute to 1950s and 1960s Las Vegas by actor Carlos Puentes, according to Tijuana Eventos.

Prices and entry

We haven’t seen a published drinks menu with prices. During Tijuana Restaurant Week, which runs through Nov. 12, the bar appears on the event’s 399- and 799-peso menu lists, so ask what each menu includes before you order. Tickets for the That’s Vegas! show in 2025 were 200 pesos in presale and 300 for the VIP area, plus service charges. The bar hasn’t published age or dress rules.

Getting there

The address is Av. Revolución 8208 A-1, in the Jai Alai building on Revolución between Calles 7a and 8a, the same landmark as El Foro. Going to a concert at El Foro on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday? The bar is under the same roof. More downtown bars are in our Nightlife guide.
