Tijuana has no shortage of good coffee. In October, Publimetro rounded up 20 cafés to discover across the city, and late last year San Diego Red’s editors named seven nominees for the city’s best coffee. If this weekend’s rain keeps you indoors (see our storm update), here’s where to find a good cup, grouped by neighborhood. We built this guide from our own café profiles and those two lists; we don’t rate places, and hours change often, so check each café’s social media before you go.
Downtown: Avenida Revolución and around
Container Coffee Roaster Co. (Av. Revolución 1348) roasts its own beans, and Publimetro links it to single-origin espresso, filter brewing and Mexican beans. It’s on the same stretch of Revolución as the Museo del Taco, at No. 1317.
Bunko (Av. Revolución 1651-8) is a bookstore that doubles as a café. It opened in August 2025, and San Diego Red described a menu of chai, lattes with plant-based milks, pastries and seasonal drinks, plus a patio and a corner for young readers. Its December 2025 schedule had it closed on Tuesdays.
Julep Café (Av. Mutualismo 1233) hangs work by local artists and, according to San Diego Red, hosts live jazz on Tuesday evenings: there are no tickets, and buying a coffee gets you a seat. Its monthly Sunday drag brunch was reported in 2025, so confirm before you plan around it.
La Cacho
Two of the chains on San Diego Red’s list have their busiest branches in colonia Madero, part of the area locals call La Cacho. Electric Coffee Roasters has four locations; its most popular is at Brasil 2309, and San Diego Red calls it a convenient pick if you’re on the go, with a varied menu. When The Coffee Vine reviewed Electric’s café on Avenida Hipódromo in 2019, it singled out the Electric Limonada, made with cold brew, tonic and a local syrup. Das Cortez, which San Diego Red calls a Tijuana classic and one of the first to offer an original menu of its own, has eleven locations, the busiest at Brasil 8920; Publimetro notes that it identifies its beans by producer and origin.
Also in colonia Madero, Madriguera (Colombia 8870) is an intimate, community-minded space popular with artists, students and readers, San Diego Red says. Baristi, which has 20 locations according to San Diego Red, opened a Baristi Signature café at Brasil and Ensenada (No. 9031) on Jan. 23, 2026, at 8 a.m., Baja Flavors reported; Publimetro, which lists it as Baristi Tostadores, mentions microlots and flavor notes.
Playas de Tijuana
Doria Café (Paseo Playas de Tijuana 293) opened in February 2026 in a white-and-blue seafront house with an outdoor spiral staircase. Reports from March and April 2026 put drinks at about 60 to 85 pesos and hours at 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Accounts of the house’s link to Juan Gabriel differ, so take the backstory with a grain of salt.
More names on the 2026 list
Publimetro’s October roundup also points coffee lovers to Lumi Café and CRU Coffee Roasters & Cellars, which roast their own beans; Brewja Barra de Café, which works with beans from Chiapas; Ilustre Coffee Roasters, which focuses on Mexican producers; Café Love, for brewing methods such as Chemex, AeroPress, V60 and siphon; and Caffé Sospeso, which the list says has been in the city since 1999. San Diego Red adds Hidalgo Coffee, a six-location brand with a manual brew bar and rotating seasonal beans; its busiest café is in the Edificio Sonora (Sonora 13).
