Bunko is a bookstore and café at Avenida Revolución 1651 in Tijuana’s Zona Centro. It opened in August 2025, according to SanDiegoRed, which described it as a bookstore that also works as a coffee spot and cultural space. Founder and owner Vanessa Félix told the outlet the idea grew out of her own need for a place to read, work and browse books, and that she wanted more people to be able to enjoy literature in the city.

What’s there

The shelves mix bestsellers with less expected finds, and several titles by local and international authors sold out in the opening days, SanDiegoRed reported. By December 2025, the outlet described a quiet space for reading, creative work and conversation, with an area for children and young people.

On the café side, the menu named by SanDiegoRed includes vanilla chai, lattes with plant-based milks, Americanos, cappuccinos and flat whites, plus cookies, scones, muffins, a vegan cinnamon roll and French-style pastries. Seasonal drinks rotate: an Apple Pie Latte in the fall of 2025, then a winter menu inspired by The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, with a Bunko Tonic (espresso tonic with grape syrup, pomegranate jam and honey) and a Berry Matcha Latte with strawberry and raspberry.

What to expect

There’s a patio with plants, tables and wooden benches, per SanDiegoRed’s opening story. Bunko has hosted or planned writing workshops, art exhibits and book launches, and SanDiegoRed reported in December that it plans more readings, talks and other cultural activities. That same month, SanDiegoRed’s followers voted it their favorite coffee shop in Tijuana in a social media poll among seven local cafés that the outlet’s editors had nominated.

None of the reports we found list menu or book prices, or say which payment methods are accepted, so bring some cash as a backup.
