The vibe

La República de Hops is a Tijuana craft brewery with two downtown taprooms, and the Underground is the one built around shows. The brewery bills it as “Cerveza Artesanal y Eventos”: house beer at the bar and bands on the bill. Tijuana Eventos has called it one of the city’s favorite places for live music and a key space for emerging projects, with an intimate setting that puts the crowd close to the bands.

The brewery’s own story credits brewer Isaías Medina and his wife with starting the project. A 2021 San Diego Reader feature on Tijuana beer added two details: the brand was first called Corsario, until the team learned Lúdica already had a beer by that name, and Medina brews a wide range of styles rather than only hop-heavy ones. The same feature described reaching the brewery through a semi-hidden corridor into a two-level underground space.

What to expect

Come for a band and stay for a few pints. Recent listings show the range of what plays here: CFA on April 17, 2026; Cucarachas en la Cabeza on April 25, 2026; and, on Oct. 9, 2026, a bill with Habak, Annapura, Cánidos and No Somos Nada with doors at 7 p.m. Outside show nights it keeps regular taproom hours, with its own beer and food menu.

Prices and entry

Entry depends on the night. When Vaguens played on Nov. 14, 2025, general admission was 350 pesos plus service fees, sold through Passline and at the door, and the show was for adults only. The brewery keeps a separate online menu for the Underground with its beers and food; we haven’t seen a current printed price list, so check it before you go.

Getting there

The brewery lists the Underground at Av. Revolución 821 in Zona Centro, and show listings call it the Pasaje Revolución location. Some event pages use other addresses for the same venue (Songkick, for example, lists Calle Tercera 8217), so check the directions on your ticket or message the brewery before you go.

Good to know

  • Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., per the brewery’s website, which lists no hours for Monday and Tuesday.

  • Nearby for a crawl: Border Psycho Cantina, Black Box, La Mezcalera and the covered Pasaje Rodríguez arcade.
