Tropical Storm Rachel is due to move through this weekend, and the week after it builds to one of the busiest Friday-Saturday stretches of the month. Here’s what’s on from Monday, Oct. 12, through Sunday, Oct. 18, with the details we could confirm. Plans can change, especially after a storm, so check with the organizer before you head out.
Before you go: storm cleanup
Rain from Rachel could last into early Monday, according to Baja California’s civil protection office. If streets are flooded or arroyos are running early in the week, don’t drive or walk through them, and give yourself extra time at the border. Our border crossing guide covers lanes and documents.
Midweek: horror classics and the Festival de Octubre
- Wednesday, Oct. 14: CEART Tijuana’s free “Clásicos del Terror” series shows Friday the 13th (1980) at 5 p.m., according to the Tijuana Eventos listing. The screenings run every Wednesday in October.
- Thursday, Oct. 15: The state’s Festival de Octubre stages “Las familias de la orquesta” with the Orquesta SEM 2040 at CEART Tijuana, listed at 5 p.m.
Thursday to Sunday: Expo Tequila on Revolución
The 25th Expo Tequila Tijuana takes over Avenida Revolución between Calle Octava and Calle Novena from Thursday, Oct. 15, to Sunday, Oct. 18, open 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily. General admission is 150 pesos and under-18s get in free, according to Tijuana en Línea, which counts more than 40 tequila producers and about 200 brands, plus a food zone, mariachi and norteño music. Organizers expect more than 6,000 visitors. Take a taxi or ride-hail home.
Friday, Oct. 16: three big nights at once
- Elefante at El Foro on Revolución. Songkick lists doors at 7 p.m. and tickets from MX$575 through Super Boletos.
- Adanowsky at Black Box, on Revolución between Calle Sexta and Calle Séptima. Doors 7 p.m., tickets from MX$600 through Arema, per Songkick.

- Earlier in the day, the El Trompo interactive museum hosts the festival show “Nuestro pueblo” (3 p.m., per the Tijuana Eventos guide).
Saturday, Oct. 17: free music and a metal anniversary
- Esto es Cuba Big Band plays a free outdoor show on the esplanade at CECUT at 8 p.m., part of the center’s 44th-anniversary program announced by Mexico’s Culture Secretariat.
- Hirax plays a full set at 9:30 p.m. for Dragón Rojo‘s 12th anniversary; the promoter’s listing says entrance is free.
- Akriila headlines Black Box; Songkick lists doors at 7 p.m. and tickets from MX$500 through Arema.
Sunday, Oct. 18, and a look ahead
Sunday is the last day of Expo Tequila. Then mark Saturday, Oct. 24: Tecate Península takes over the esplanade at Estadio Caliente, and the Festival de Octubre puts on a free street concert with Los Amigos Invisibles on Revolución between Calle Primera and Calle Segunda.
Getting around
El Foro, Black Box, Dragón Rojo and Expo Tequila are all in Zona Centro, on or near Avenida Revolución, so one ride gets you to all of them. Estadio Caliente, CECUT and CEART are a separate ride away. Friday and Saturday nights get busy at the ports of entry, so check CBP’s wait times before you head back.
Everything above is on the calendar, and our guides cover where to eat and drink nearby.
