Cocktails and live jazz in a retro, aviation-themed room

Tower Bar is the cocktail and piano bar inside the Grand Hotel Tijuana, on Bulevar Agua Caliente. Its website calls it a piano bar that mixes old-school charm with a modern look and promises live jazz and piano “every night,” while OpenTable lists it as open Thursday through Saturday, 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. It’s a dressy spot for a nightcap rather than a dance floor.

The vibe

The room was designed by Marshall Interiors as a retro, aviation-inspired cocktail bar meant to recall the decades when the building went up, according to the San Diego Architectural Foundation, which featured it in its Orchids & Onions program and places it on the first floor of the hotel tower. The foundation’s project page describes marble floors and bar tops, curved walls and stairs trimmed with metal studs, leather sofas in warm tones and a one-off chandelier built from recycled brass. When the lifestyle magazine MundoBRG covered the opening in August 2024, it described a classic, retro-elegant concept inspired by the golden age of aviation; the opening night honored the Bustamante family’s history in Tijuana with an exhibition of historical portraits.

What to expect

Expect a lounge, not a club. OpenTable lists the dress code as formal attire, so dress up. The bar’s listing covers cocktails, bottle service, tapas and small plates and seafood, with Lucio Hernández as executive chef, and the website links separate food and drink menus. Recent reviews on OpenTable, through early October 2026, mention the live jazz and the service.

Prices and entry

Neither the website nor OpenTable lists a cover charge. OpenTable puts the bar in its MX$500-and-over price band and lists American Express, Mastercard and Visa. Reservations go through OpenTable, linked from the bar’s website, which also lists the hotel’s reservations email (reservaciones@grandhoteltj.com) and two phone numbers for reservations. Neither source posts an age policy, so bring ID.

Getting there

The bar is in the Grand Hotel Tijuana at Bulevar Agua Caliente 4558, in Colonia Aviación. OpenTable lists valet parking. From downtown or Zona Río, a taxi or ride-hail is the simplest way in and out, and our Grand Hotel Tijuana profile covers the rest of the property if you’re staying the night.
