Free art at Tijuana’s Casas de la Cultura this month: AI cartoons tonight, a UABC student show and sculpture

Tijuana’s municipal culture department is opening three free exhibitions at its Casas de la Cultura in Colonia Altamira and Playas de Tijuana this month, Tijuana en Línea and Tijuana Última Hora reported on Nov. 4, citing the city. One show is drawing and press cartoons, one mixes painting with three-dimensional pieces, and one is sculpture, and all three have free entry.

The three openings

  • SAS! 2026, Thursday, Nov. 5, 5 p.m. The Salón de Arte en Secuencia hangs a group show of drawings and press cartoons about artificial intelligence and its impact on today’s society, in the third-floor hallway of the Casa de la Cultura de Tijuana in Altamira (event page).
  • Caos 6, Friday, Nov. 13, 6 p.m. Students of the visual arts program at UABC’s Facultad de Artes show traditional painting next to three-dimensional work at the Galería Álvarez Malo, inside the Casa de la Cultura de Playas de Tijuana.
  • Ecos del eterno femenino, Thursday, Nov. 26, 6 p.m. A sculpture exhibition by Alejandra del Río opens at the Galería Benjamín Serrano of the Casa de la Cultura de Tijuana (event page).

The city’s culture secretary, Yadira Esther Gutiérrez Avila, said the program is meant to give artists, from established names to students and newcomers, a place to show their work and to bring more people into the city’s cultural spaces, according to the two reports. Neither report said how long each exhibition stays up.

If you’re visiting

Directions to the Altamira building are on our Casa de la Cultura Tijuana profile. The reports didn’t give an address for the Playas de Tijuana house, so check the city’s culture channels before heading out for Caos 6. The Nov. 26 opening falls on U.S. Thanksgiving; if you’re in town that weekend, our Thanksgiving planner has the rest of the plan, and more free ideas are in Free in Tijuana this November.
