Playami is Border Psycho Brewery’s beer garden in Playas de Tijuana, the city’s beach district. The Tijuana brewery, founded in 2012 by brothers Roberto and Javier Albarrán, built it out of recycled shipping containers, with an outdoor backyard and an upper terrace that looks out over the street, according to its website. It runs from afternoon into the evening, opening at 1 p.m. every day, and it has been around for a while: a June 2025 wine tasting on Border Psycho’s events page closed out Playami’s sixth-anniversary celebrations.
What’s there
Beer comes first. The brewery says Playami pours from more than 40 taps of its own beer and adds guest beers from other Baja California brewers, among them Insurgente, Agua Mala, Wendlandt and Fauna. Recent check-ins on Untappd, the beer app, include Border Psycho’s Cream Ale con Guayaba and Imperial Psycho Ale next to guest beers from Fauna, Baja Brewing and Buqui Bichi. There’s also wine from Valle de Guadalupe, spirits from the local distillery Enmienda 18, cocktails and artisanal coffee, and the venue’s verified Untappd page carries a whisky list served in 1.5-ounce pours.
The kitchen serves burgers, ciabatta sandwiches, tacos and seafood, plus breakfast dishes such as chilaquiles, eggs and waffles, per the website, which links to Playami’s menus on its Linktree page.
What to expect
The website describes a fresh, relaxed setting, with curated playlists in the background, live music on weekends, family hours and a pet-friendly space. Atly’s listing mentions several seating areas, including outdoor tables, and one reviewer there writes about jazz on Thursdays, so check Playami’s social media for the week’s music. It’s a neighborhood beer garden more than a nightclub, and it closes at 11 p.m. or midnight depending on the day.
Prices and entry
We didn’t find a cover charge in any listing. On the Untappd menu, whisky pours run from 130 to 600 pesos; for beer, food and cocktail prices, check the menus on Playami’s Linktree, but the menu files posted there date from 2023 and summer 2025, so confirm prices at the bar.
Getting there
The address is Av. Paseo Ensenada 795, Playas de Tijuana. From downtown or Zona Río, a taxi or ride-hail is the easiest way to get there; give the driver the street address. Atly notes that there is valet parking, with limited space.
