The Museo de Cera de Tijuana is a small wax museum on Calle Primera at Avenida Madero in the Zona Centro, according to Zona Turística; Atly puts it about 100 meters from the arch at the top of Avenida Revolución. It opened in 1993, and its website calls it the second museum of its kind in Latin America. Tus Buenas Noticias included it in an April 2025 roundup of things to do in Tijuana, with the same address and the hours the museum lists for its summer season.
What’s there
The museum’s website describes ten rooms grouped into four themes: pre-Hispanic Mexico, the mission period of Baja California and the history of Tijuana, legends and stories, and the heroes of Mexico. It says the collection has more than 80 figures of historical characters, artists and film and television personalities; Zona Turística’s listing counts 93. Historical figures named on the site include Miguel Hidalgo, Moctezuma, Emiliano Zapata, John F. Kennedy, Mahatma Gandhi and Pope John Paul II, while the entertainment side includes Cantinflas, Marilyn Monroe, Pedro Infante and Elvis Presley. A dimly lit horror section holds Dracula, Freddy Krueger and the Wolf Man.
What to expect
Plan on a short visit rather than an afternoon. Atly describes a small, calm, family-friendly museum, notes that some figures show their age and says the entrance fee is low. That makes it an easy add-on to a walk down Avenida Revolución, a stop with kids, or a way to spend a rainy hour downtown. Pair it with the city’s history museum, the MUHTI, or the Museo del Taco on Revolución for a fuller museum morning. We haven’t visited for this profile; it’s built from the sources listed on this page.
Prices and entry
Tus Buenas Noticias put general admission at 25 pesos in April 2025, and Zona Turística shows the same figure as reported by visitors; Atly lists 40 pesos. Carry some pesos in cash and check the price at the door. The museum’s website lists two schedules: in winter, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends; in summer, an hour later on both (6 p.m. on weekdays, 7 p.m. on weekends). It doesn’t say when each season starts, so if you’re arriving late in the day, call ahead at (664) 688 2478.
Getting there
The address is Calle Primera, also called Artículo 123, No. 8281, at Avenida Madero, according to Zona Turística; the museum’s website gives Calle 1ª 8281, Col. Centro. If you walk in from the San Ysidro crossing toward the arch on Revolución, the museum is just around the corner; from there, the rest of downtown, including Pasaje Rodríguez, is a few blocks down the avenue.
