Xolos are booed after a 0-0 draw with Puebla, their fifth straight match without a win

Xolos and Puebla drew 0-0 on Friday night at Estadio Caliente in matchday 12 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026, and the home crowd booed as soon as the final whistle blew, El Imparcial reported. It was Tijuana’s fifth straight Apertura match without a win, according to the paper.

Xolos took 20 shots, but only five were on target, El Imparcial reported, citing SofaScore data. Jackson Porozo headed a set piece off the post, Iván Tona forced Puebla goalkeeper Daniel Gutiérrez into action with two free kicks, and at the other end Xolos keeper Antonio Rodríguez made key saves in both halves to keep the clean sheet.

Gilberto Mora was left out again. Coach Sebastián Abreu put it down to an ankle problem and an inflamed hip, according to El Imparcial, which has Mora missing five matches in all: two league games with Xolos and three with Mexico’s national team during the FIFA window.

Where that leaves Xolos

The draw left Tijuana on 16 points and provisionally eighth, level with Puebla and Pumas, Excélsior reported, with a postponed matchday 7 game against América still pending. Next up is a visit to Toluca at the Nemesio Díez, Diario Tijuana reported. The tournament calendar published in June lists that match for Wednesday, Oct. 21, and Tijuana’s next home game, against Santos, for Sunday, Oct. 25; the FutbolTotal schedule lists the Santos kickoff at 11 p.m. Eastern, which is 8 p.m. in Tijuana.
