Xolos draw 1-1 at América as Gil Mora returns; Monterrey is next, Saturday at 6 p.m. Tijuana time

Xolos left Mexico City with a point on Wednesday night, drawing 1-1 with league leader América in a makeup game from matchday 7 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026. Elias Manoel put Tijuana ahead in the 12th minute on a counterattack that began with a mistake by América’s Dagoberto Espinoza, and Miguel Borja equalized in the 19th with a turning shot, according to the Mexican news agency Amexi. América fan site Águilas Monumental counted it as Borja’s sixth goal of the tournament.

The other headline was Gilberto “Gil” Mora. He came on in the 57th minute, his first action in more than a month, and hit a left-footed shot straight at the goalkeeper in the 77th, Amexi reported. The game was played at the Estadio Banorte, per El Financiero’s preview; Amexi still calls it the Estadio Azteca.

The draw leaves Xolos seventh with 21 points, one ahead of Monterrey in eighth, according to TV Azteca’s table, while América stays on top with 28, per Amexi. It follows Sunday’s 4-1 home win over Santos (our story).

Xolos visit Monterrey at the Estadio BBVA on Saturday, Oct. 31, in matchday 15. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. central Mexico time, according to Fox Sports México, which is 6 p.m. in Tijuana and matches the 6 p.m. Pacific time in the season calendar Uniradio Informa published in June. In Mexico, Fox lists the broadcast on Canal 5, TUDN and ViX.
