The Rosarito Beach Hotel, which brands itself the Rosarito Beach Hotel & Spa, sits on Bulevar Benito Juárez in central Playas de Rosarito, with its towers facing the ocean. It dates its history to 1924, and it is still busy in 2026: it marked its 102nd anniversary in July with a Beatles tribute concert and has more than 300 employees, Baja Times reported, and on Sept. 8 the same paper reported that Rosarito Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz had toured it.

What’s there

The hotel’s website lists more than 450 rooms in three oceanfront towers, while Baja Times put the total at 496 in September 2026. The eight-story Coronado Tower has standard oceanfront rooms, the three-story Playas Tower has 70 one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchenettes, and the 17-story Pacífico Tower holds condo-style suites up to penthouses, according to the hotel. Expedia lists three outdoor pools and a children’s pool, plus free in-room Wi-Fi.

Casa Playa Spa occupies part of the former family mansion and opens daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For food and drinks, the hotel’s FAQ lists the Azteca restaurant-bar, open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Chabert’s, which serves Baja Mediterranean and French cooking Friday to Sunday from 5 to 11 p.m.; and a Sunday brunch at 590 pesos for adults and 390 for children under 11, taxes included. Its website also lists the Rosa & Rita bar. In its account of the mayor’s tour, Baja Times described the pier as recently renovated and expanded and listed the hotel’s interpretive museum among the stops; board chair Hugo Antonio Torres Ramírez also showed her recently discovered paintings by Alfredo Ramos Martínez.

What to expect

This is a large, historic beach hotel rather than a boutique stay. Its history page lists Hollywood guests such as Orson Welles, Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, Gregory Peck, Spencer Tracy and Lana Turner. The hotel calls Manuel Barbachano its founder and dates its opening to 1924; Discover Baja says the original 10-room resort, owned by Jay Danziger and Daisy Moreno, was advertised in July 1924 with legal drinks on offer while the United States was under Prohibition, and that Barbachano bought it in 1929. It is still family-owned, according to Baja Times.

Prices and booking

Rates move with the calendar. A search on Oct. 27, 2026 showed rooms from US$93 a night, taxes and fees included, on Expedia for Oct. 28. Book through the hotel’s site or a travel site, and compare. Parking costs 68 pesos per vehicle a night for overnight guests, with guards around the clock and free EV charging, per the FAQ. Check-in starts at 4 p.m. and check-out is at noon, and late check-out, if available, costs half the nightly rate. Expedia shows a shorter check-in window than the hotel’s FAQ, so call ahead if you’ll arrive late. Pets aren’t allowed, though service dogs can be approved in advance.

Getting there

The hotel is at Bulevar Benito Juárez 31 in central Rosarito, south of Tijuana along the coast. Its FAQ estimates the trip from San Diego at about 40 minutes, but the border line can change that a lot, so check the waits before you go; our alert kit has the links.
