Bodega 8 is a bar and grill in Plaza Paseo Chapultepec on Boulevard Agua Caliente that mixes northeastern Mexican grilling with Baja seafood: cuts of beef, tacos, tostadas and a mezcal-heavy cocktail list, served across a rustic-modern dining room, a bar and an outdoor terrace. It draws after-work groups, couples and families on weekend afternoons, and it shares the plaza with Lorenza and Cabanna, which makes it part of Tijuana’s most convenient restaurant row.

The food

The signature plates the restaurant lists are camarones Esmeralda and red snapper tostadas, with a grilled artichoke and a ribeye chicharrón among the starters; diners also talk about bone marrow tacos, octopus, carne en su jugo, tortilla soup, handmade tortillas, steaks and a burger that Eric called his favorite thing on the menu. The bar is known for mezcal cocktails, a cucumber martini and a tamarind margarita, with craft beer and regional wine on the list. Executive chef Víctor Adrián Aguilar Ramos runs the kitchen.

What to expect

The space is warm and dim at night, with wooden tables, country touches and big screens for major sporting events; the terrace is the draw on a mild evening. The restaurant closed for a remodel in spring 2026 and was back by May with a refreshed room and, according to a couple of regulars, a shorter menu, so some older favorites may be gone. Service draws mixed notes: attentive and patient with English speakers in most reports, slow or chaotic in others, especially when the room is full. The dress code is casual.

Prices and reservations

OpenTable lists Bodega 8 at MX$310 to MX$500 per person. The platform’s online booking has been offline for much of 2026, so call +52 664 681 7269 or message the restaurant on Instagram (@bodega8baja) to reserve; booking a day or two ahead is recommended for Friday and Saturday. Listed hours are Monday to Saturday 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., though other directories show later closes, so confirm if you plan a late dinner. One recent reviewer arrived at 9:30 p.m. to a closed kitchen.

Getting there

The address is Blvd. Agua Caliente 10387, local D-201, Plaza Paseo Chapultepec, Colonia Neidhart, on the main boulevard east of Zona Río. The plaza has ample parking, and any taxi or Uber will know it.

Good to know

It gets loud by 8 p.m. on a Friday, and the terrace bar is the easier place to grab a seat without a reservation. Ask about the day’s cuts rather than going by old menu photos online, since the menu changed with the remodel, and, as anywhere in Tijuana, read the amount and currency on the card terminal before you tap. Eric’s visit, with a rating, is in his Bodega 8 review.
