Tijuana’s 5K for World Mental Health Day is Saturday at the CREA, with registration open until race day

The city of Tijuana will hold a 5K run for World Mental Health Day on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 7 a.m. at the Unidad Deportiva CREA, the municipal government said on Oct. 13. The race is organized through the city’s Instituto Municipal de Salud Mental y Adicciones (IMSAMA), and the 206-peso entry fee goes to the COTRRSA therapeutic communities so they can keep providing their services, according to IMSAMA director Rafael González Espinoza.

About 400 people had signed up when the city made its announcement, and registration stays open until race day. Sign-ups are taken every day at IMSAMA, Avenida Vía Rápida Poniente 12693 in Colonia 20 de Noviembre, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and at three partner centers listed in the city’s announcement. There are women’s and men’s categories, each paying 5,000 pesos for first place, 4,000 for second and 3,000 for third, a 24,000-peso purse in all, as Tijuana en Línea noted. Participants get a commemorative medal for this third and final stage, which completes the year’s set of three, according to the city.
