Tijuana will hold La Milla Internacional Tijuana 2026 on Friday, Oct. 23, starting at 1 p.m. on the athletics track at the Unidad Deportiva CREA, the city’s sports institute, IMDET, announced on Oct. 6.
About 20 elite runners are confirmed for the 1,609-meter race, plus around 150 athletes in other categories: promotional categories A through D for adults, and 600- and 800-meter races for children and teens. The top five elite men and women will take home 15,000, 10,000, 5,000, 3,000 and 1,500 pesos, respectively, the city said.
Qualifying is still open. Athletes can certify their times through Oct. 19 at check sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the CREA track, IMDET director César Aramis González Guerrero said in an Oct. 8 update. Local runners book through the Liga Municipal de Atletismo de Tijuana (LIMAT) or the Asociación Estatal de Atletismo de Baja California, at (664) 558-3066. Runners from other states or countries need an endorsement from the Federación Mexicana de Asociaciones de Atletismo (FMAA) or from their own association or federation.
