‘Desafío Dalí’ opens Oct. 16 at CEART Tijuana, with a month of Festival de Octubre shows around it

The immersive exhibition Desafío Dalí opens Friday, Oct. 16, at the Centro Estatal de las Artes (CEART) Tijuana, according to the arts center’s festival schedule, published by En Línea BC, and the show’s ticket page on Fanki. Entries run every hour from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., a visit takes about 90 minutes, and the ticket page lists the run as Oct. 16 to Jan. 7.

If you saw other dates, that’s why: the August announcement pointed to Oct. 8 and the September festival program to Oct. 14. The current listings agree on Oct. 16.

What’s inside

The ticket page describes virtual reality, immersive, 3D and audiovisual rooms, large-format prints of Dalí’s work, free hands-on workshops and an audio guide you open with a QR code. When the state announced the show in August, San Diego Red reported that it is endorsed and supervised by the Fundación Gala-Salvador Dalí and that the state would hand out 10,000 courtesy tickets.

Tickets and rules

• Tickets are sold online through Fanki; the page did not show prices when we checked. Children’s tickets apply from age 3, and student and senior tickets are sold only at the box office with valid ID.
• For courtesy tickets, the state said in August to contact its arts centers by email, social media or phone.
• No food or drink inside, but there is a café and a gift shop. Parking is free, the space is wheelchair accessible and strollers are allowed. Pets only if carried or in a pet stroller.
• CEART Tijuana is on Vía Rápida Oriente, in the Río Tijuana 3a Etapa area.

Downtown, the festival’s free concert with Los Amigos Invisibles on Avenida Revolución is Oct. 24. On Halloween night, Oct. 31 at 9 p.m., the Orquesta de Baja California plays Sinfonía de terror y ritmo on Revolución, according to the festival program reported by Zeta.
