Baja California’s Festival de Octubre turns 25 this year, and its biggest free date in Tijuana is a street concert on Avenida Revolución on Saturday, Oct. 24. Los Amigos Invisibles headline, with Son Rompe Pera, Mi Banda El Mexicano de Germán Román and La Diabla also on the bill, according to Zeta and San Diego Red.
The stage goes up on Revolución between Calle Primera and Calle Segunda, and entry is free. Zeta’s report on the state’s program and the Tijuana Eventos listing give a 5 p.m. start, while San Diego Red reported 8 p.m., so check the final schedule the week of the show.
The festival is organized by the state’s Secretaría de Cultura under the theme “Territorios de Paz” and runs from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1, with 119 activities across Baja California’s seven municipalities, according to Zeta and El Imparcial. In Tijuana, the program includes an immersive Salvador Dalí exhibition at CEART Tijuana this month, and on Saturday, Oct. 31, the Orquesta de Baja California plays “Sinfonía de terror y ritmo” on Avenida Revolución at 9 p.m., closing with a tribute to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” Zeta reported.
Plan your night
- Oct. 24 is also the day of Tecate Península at Estadio Caliente, so expect a busy Saturday across the city and leave extra time for rides and for crossing back.
- The state said it would hand out 10,000 free tickets for the festival’s immersive exhibitions, Zeta reported; watch the Secretaría de Cultura’s channels for how to get them.
- Tijuana Eventos’ guide to the program says nearly all of it is free to attend.
