**Human Remains Discovered in Cerro Azul, Tecate**
In a recent field search, authorities discovered human remains near Cerro Azul in Tecate. The discovery was made possible through the efforts of the Office for the Investigation of Forced Disappearances, which has been actively following up on multiple reports of missing persons in the region. The search team was aided by “Mamba,” a highly trained canine unit.
The search was conducted using a systematic zigzag pattern, covering an initial area of approximately 60 by 80 meters. Within this zone, the canine unit detected a grave at the side of a path after alerting the team on three separate occasions. Investigators at the site identified a vertebra and two rib fragments, though they were unable to determine the age or sex due to the condition of the bones. These remains have been sent to a lab for further analysis, a crucial step in establishing identities and causes of death, aiding ongoing investigations.
The operation involved personnel from the Public Ministry, the National Guard, the State Search Commission, and the Citizen Security Force. Additionally, the State Prosecutor’s Office provided their forensic services and included an archaeologist to assist in the investigation, while the State Investigation Agency also participated.
