It isn’t only Tijuana’s city hall. Baja California’s state government offices are closed on Monday, Oct. 26, as well, Uniradio Informa reported, citing the state’s Oficial Mayor, David Cervantes Aguilar. Work in state offices resumes at the usual hours on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The day off is a swap for Oct. 27, when the founding of the union of state and municipal workers is commemorated, under Article 30 of the state’s civil service law and the general working conditions (condiciones generales de trabajo) in effect, according to the report, published Friday. State agencies handling tasks such as health, public security and civil protection keep staff on duty (“personal de guardia”) to handle emergencies. The notice covers state offices; it doesn’t mention federal ones.
What it means for you

- The state pointed residents to its portal, bajacalifornia.gob.mx, where appointments can be booked, Uniradio reported.
- Tijuana’s city offices are closed to the public on Monday too (our story), and they also reopen Tuesday.
- For emergencies, call 911.
