Tijuana city offices are closed to the public on Monday, Oct. 26, and reopen Tuesday

Tijuana’s city government won’t serve the public on Monday, Oct. 26, Zeta, El Imparcial and Tijuana en Línea reported Saturday. Monday is a mandatory day off for the XXV Ayuntamiento’s base, confidential and fixed-term staff, so the administrative offices, the delegaciones (borough offices) and the city’s paramunicipal agencies will be closed to the public. Tijuana en Línea said that includes the Palacio Municipal in Zona Río.

The day off marks the founding anniversary of SEPEMIDBC, the union that represents employees of Baja California’s state government, municipalities and decentralized agencies. El Imparcial reported that the anniversary falls on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and that the city is giving the day off on Monday instead (“en permuta,” as a swap). Administrative work resumes as usual in every office on Tuesday, the reports said.

Departments that handle essential services have to keep on-duty crews (“guardias”) so those services keep running, according to Zeta and El Imparcial. Tijuana en Línea reported that cashier and paperwork windows will be closed, that residents with pending procedures or payments will have to wait until regular service resumes, and advised against unnecessary trips to the government offices in Zona Río and to the borough offices.
