Valle de Guadalupe is the only Mexican destination on Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2027 list

Valle de Guadalupe, the wine valley in the municipality of Ensenada, is on Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2027, the guidebook publisher’s list of 50 destinations for next year, released in September. The list tags the valley as the pick for Baja wine country and presents it as Mexico’s leading wine region, with farm-to-table cooking, contemporary architecture and more than 100 wineries. It is the only Mexican destination among the 50; Mexican Times reported on the list on Sept. 22.

Baja California’s tourism secretary, Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño, said the recognition reflects what makes the valley unique and credited its communities, producers and service providers, San Diego Red reported on Oct. 16. According to that report, the valley will be honored with the other picks at a special event during World Travel Market in London in November, and Serina Patel, Lonely Planet’s marketing lead, described it as a place to explore without hurrying, pointing to its wines, seasonal cooking and boutique hotels. The report adds that Baja’s wine routes produce more than 70% of Mexico’s wine.
