**Human Remains Discovered Near Plaza de la TecnologĂa in Tijuana**
In a shocking development, authorities discovered human remains near Plaza de la TecnologĂa in Tijuana during the early hours of Friday. This grim find was part of a series of violent incidents that marked the day in the city.
According to preliminary reports, a woman’s death occurred around 9 a.m. in the Playas de Tijuana district. She was driving her SUV along Bruselas Street in the Costa Azul section when she was attacked. Paramedics arrived promptly, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Soldiers and local police officers secured the area to assist forensic investigators from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) in processing the scene and eventually removing the body.
In another disturbing incident earlier the same morning, authorities received reports of an abandoned vehicle on Niños HĂ©roes Avenue, between Second and Third Streets, right in front of Plaza de la TecnologĂa. Upon inspection, officers found a plastic container inside the gray SUV containing human remains. The area was cordoned off by police and the National Guard, with FGE officers called in to conduct a thorough investigation.
As of now, authorities have not released the identities of the victims or any information regarding potential suspects.
**Additional Incidents Highlight Growing Violence in Tijuana**
In related incidents, the city saw the murder of a man near the El Chaparral border crossing, where he was shot in the head. The increasing violence has also claimed the life of a subcommandant of the FGE in a separate attack. Furthermore, a man’s body was discovered at dawn in the El RubĂ neighborhood, adding to the tally of victims in the ongoing violence that grips the region.
Despite these tragic events, the city’s administration is actively working on security measures. The mayor of Tijuana has recently set up a Regional Security and Citizen Protection Board, prioritizing four key areas to address the city’s insecurity issues. Meanwhile, over 600 cases of alleged misconduct against Tijuana police officers are currently under investigation, spotlighting concerns around law enforcement practices.
Amidst these developments, Tijuana continues to experience daily challenges, including urban management issues such as unrelinquished neighborhoods and housing complexes which have not been handed over to the local government. On a smaller scale, the city is facing financial challenges, like potential hikes in holiday bonus payments for companies, and logistical issues in waste management in specific neighborhoods.
Despite the challenges, efforts to improve safety and administration continue with the proposal to open additional checkpoints at the San Ysidro border crossing, and the potential restructuring of judicial roles in Baja California. As these discussions unfold, the community remains vigilant and hopeful for more peaceful days ahead.
