Tijuana’s book fair is back Oct. 23–Nov. 1 at Parque Morelos, opening with Julieta Venegas

The Feria del Libro de Tijuana will run Oct. 23 through Nov. 1 at Parque Morelos, according to the program its organizers presented in September, as reported by Cadena Noticias and CiudadTijuana. It is the 41st edition of the city’s book fair, per Cadena Noticias.

Organizers list more than 140 book presentations over ten days, with more than half of the agenda devoted to authors and publishers from Baja California. Julieta Venegas is scheduled to open the fair on Friday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m., presenting her book Norteña on the fair’s Amorosos stage, a day before she plays Tecate Península. The program also includes a tribute to poet Jaime Sabines for the centenary of his birth and a children’s and youth pavilion with workshops.

Penguin Random House, Sexto Piso, Almadía, Océano and Ediciones Era are among the publishers bringing authors, according to the list released by the Unión de Librerías de Tijuana, the local booksellers’ group, and published by Zeta.

The fair had been set for May 22–31, but the booksellers’ group called it off in early May, saying the minimum conditions to organize it were not in place, Excélsior reported. In June, the city confirmed the fair would go ahead in the fall at Parque Morelos, according to Zeta.
