Four officers from the State Police have been temporarily relieved from their duties in Rosarito following two formal complaints since the state police assumed control of local security on March 7th. According to Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, one complaint was lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office and another with the Internal Control Body of the security department.

Carrillo Rodríguez stated, “We’ve had individuals come forward with complaints about the state police. So far, there are two formal cases under investigation.” He also mentioned that while there are allegations circulating on social media, no other formal reports have been filed.

Regarding the status of the four officers, Carrillo Rodríguez explained that they have been reassigned for safety reasons while an investigation by the Internal Control Body is underway. “There is no evidence linking them to the accusations yet, but they have been reassigned as we investigate,” he clarified.

Since taking charge on March 7th, the State Police replaced 264 municipal officers who are now undergoing a comprehensive vetting process. This includes psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being inspected for serial numbers and codes.
