### Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints

In a recent development, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily relieved of their duties in Rosarito. This action comes in response to two formal complaints filed since the state police assumed control over local security on March 7th. The Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, reported that one complaint has been submitted to the State Attorney General’s Office and another to the Internal Control Body of the security department.

Carrillo Rodríguez acknowledged the grievances expressed by the public, confirming that they are actively under investigation. He also addressed rumors circulating on social media, noting that while these are being looked into, no further formal complaints have been documented.

#### Officers Reassigned Amid Investigation

The Secretary emphasized that, as of now, no concrete evidence links the officers to the allegations. Nonetheless, they have been reassigned to ensure safety during the investigation led by the Internal Control Body. “There is no evidence linking them to the accusations, but they have been reassigned while we investigate,” he stated.

Since taking over in Rosarito, the State Police are overseeing a comprehensive vetting process for the local security forces formerly consisting of 264 municipal officers. This process includes psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Firearms held by the officers are also undergoing serial number inspections.

The move to hold officers accountable marks a significant step in addressing public concerns and improving the integrity of Rosarito’s security forces. With a vigilant eye on progress, there is hope for further necessary reforms in the future.
