**State Police Officers in Rosarito Temporarily Removed Following Complaints**
In Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily relieved from duty due to two formal complaints that have arisen since the state police assumed control of local security on March 7th. This shift in responsibility followed the suspension of municipal officers who are undergoing extensive evaluations.
Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, confirmed the filing of one complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office and another with the Internal Control Body of the security department. “Individuals have stepped forward with grievances about the State Police. We are currently investigating two formal cases,” Carrillo Rodríguez stated. He also mentioned that while allegations are circulating on social media, no further formal complaints have been lodged.
The four officers have been reassigned for their safety during the investigation process conducted by the Internal Control Body. Carrillo Rodríguez assured that there’s no concrete evidence linking the officers to the complaints at this time, but they remain under scrutiny.
Since the beginning of March, the State Police have managed security operations in Rosarito. This change saw the replacement of 264 municipal officers, who are now subject to various evaluations, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being inspected for any discrepancies in serial numbers and codes.
This development might signal the start of a necessary overhaul in Rosarito’s security forces, aiming for greater accountability and integrity.
