Prepare for the Exciting El Bebé Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th
Rosarito’s stunning Playa El Bebé is set to host Baja California’s highly anticipated state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. Enthusiasts and professionals from across the region are expected to gather for this exciting event, which has a reputation for attracting impressive participation. Last year, nearly 150 anglers from within the state and Southern California attended, making it a significant occasion on the fishing calendar.
This tournament is a part of the official schedule sanctioned by the State Secretary of Fisheries (SEPESCA BC) and backed by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. It is being organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association alongside the TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
The event serves as the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments that will determine who qualifies for the prestigious State Championship. Registration for competitors will open at 5:00 AM, with the fishing commencing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will conclude at 1:00 PM, though participants in line by then will still be eligible to compete.
Exciting prizes will be awarded across various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and more, with additional raffles and delicious local fish dishes available. Those interested in joining can find more details on registration, costs, rules, and prizes by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information is available on the TJ Fishing Club’s website.
Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has extended financial support to the organizers to ease the event’s costs. Enthusiastic participants can register on the day or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking ahead, subsequent rounds of the state competition will be hosted on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. The top performers will have the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship scheduled for September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
