Four state police officers have been temporarily removed from their duties in Rosarito after two formal complaints were lodged since the state police assumed local security responsibilities on March 7th. The Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, confirmed that one complaint was directed to the State Attorney General’s Office and the other to the security department’s Internal Control Body.
“We’ve had community members come forward with complaints against the state police. Currently, there are two formal cases under investigation,” said Carrillo RodrÃguez. He also addressed unverified allegations circulating on social media, indicating that these claims are under review, though no additional formal complaints have been filed.

Carrillo RodrÃguez clarified that while there is no concrete evidence linking the officers to the allegations, they have been reassigned to ensure safety during the investigation conducted by the Internal Control Body. The investigation follows the transition of security duties to the state police, with 264 municipal officers now undergoing psychological, medical, and toxicology testing, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being inspected for serial numbers and codes as part of this comprehensive vetting process.
