Prepare for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Rosarito is gearing up to host the inaugural round of Baja California’s state fishing competition at “Playa El Bebé” on Sunday, March 30th. Anticipation is building for a strong turnout, as last year attracted nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California. The tournament is officially part of the SEPESCA BC calendar and is supported by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. This year’s event is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and hosted by TJ Fishing Club with representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno at the helm.
The event marks the beginning of a series of three qualifying beach fishing tournaments leading up to the State Championship. Activities will kick off early with angler registration starting at 5:00 AM. Fishing will officially commence at 7:00 AM, with the weigh-in closing at 1:00 PM, ensuring everyone in line by the cut-off can compete. Prizes will be awarded across various categories including children’s, women’s, and special fish species categories such as mojarra. Additionally, attendees can look forward to raffles and the chance to enjoy local cuisine made from freshly caught fish.

Following this event, the state competition will progress to Sunset Beach in Ensenada on April 27th, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and conclude at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín on July 20th, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top-performing anglers will qualify to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Jalisco on September 19-20.
