**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Relocated in Rosarito Following Complaints**
In Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily removed from their posts following two formal complaints. These actions come after the state police assumed responsibility for local security operations on March 7th.
Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo RodrĂguez, explained that these complaints have been officially filed—one with the State Attorney General’s Office and the other with the Internal Control Body of the security department. “There have been grievances regarding the conduct of state police officers. So far, there are two formal cases, and both are under investigation,” Carrillo RodrĂguez noted.
Amidst growing concerns on social media, Carrillo RodrĂguez clarified that these online allegations are being considered. However, he pointed out that no other formal reports have been submitted beyond the two current cases.
**Officers Relocated Pending Investigation**
Concerning the current status of the four officers, Carrillo RodrĂguez stated they have been reassigned to ensure safety during the ongoing investigation by the Internal Control Body. “There is no existing evidence connecting them to the claims at this point, but they have been relocated for the duration of the probe,” he said.
As of March 7th, the State Police took over Rosarito’s security duties, replacing 264 municipal officers. These municipal officers are undergoing a comprehensive vetting process, involving psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Even their firearms are being scrutinized to verify serial numbers and other identifiers.
While the removal of officers is unusual, this move underscores a significant stand towards accountability and may pave the way for necessary reforms in Rosarito’s security forces.
