**Max García Takes Office as Senator for Baja California**

José Máximo García López, a former federal and local deputy, officially assumed his role as a Senator of the Republic representing Baja California. He steps in temporarily for Gustavo Sánchez, who requested a four-day leave to attend to personal matters. In his inauguration speech, García López pledged to uphold the legislative agenda of the National Action Party (PAN), focusing on crucial issues like combating corruption, ensuring public security and justice, promoting economic development, enhancing social welfare, advancing foreign policy, and defending human rights.

“I commit to continue the legislative agenda championed by PAN, always prioritizing the welfare of our citizens and upholding the rule of law,” García López declared.

He emphasized the importance of PAN’s role as a responsible and firm opposition. Recent initiatives by PAN senators aim to strengthen state institutions and foster democratic governance.

For his first official engagement, Max García participated in a meeting with Rafael Fernández de Castro from the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies and UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep Khosla. The gathering, which also included Senator Ruth González Silva, Chair of the North American Foreign Relations Committee, aimed to reinforce bilateral collaboration between Mexico and the United States through studies and analysis on key binational topics.

This marks the beginning of García López’s legislative duties, reinforcing his commitment to the values and proposals of PAN, all dedicated to ensuring the citizens’ well-being.
