How to see lucha libre in Tijuana: the arena, the promotions and how a Friday night works

Masked heroes, flying trios and a crowd that reacts to every move: Tijuana’s lucha libre scene is on a roll. The city hosted more than 50 cards in 2025, and 33 of them were at the Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno, many to packed houses, Mario Fuentes, president of the Comisión de Lucha Libre, told Zeta at the end of the year. San Diego Magazine’s 2025 locals’ guide to Tijuana also lists lucha libre matches among its night-out ideas. Here’s how to go.

Where: the Auditorio Municipal

The main room is the Auditorio Municipal, an indoor arena on Bulevar Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, in Fraccionamiento El Paraíso, that dates to 1969, per Wikipedia. It’s a municipal venue; the city’s sports institute, IMDET, counted it among the 24 sports spaces it managed when it renovated the building in 2017, Zeta reported. It’s also where Hijo del Santo said goodbye to Tijuana fans: Zeta reported more than 5,000 people at his farewell card on June 20, 2025.

Who puts on the shows

Several promotions take turns in the building: Zeta’s announcements put The Crash, AAA and Lucka Libre cards there. In its 2025 review, Zeta said The Crash, the company led by Ignacio de la O, and AAA each held about one card a month, and it also mentioned Lucka Libre and Promociones El Cholo. Fuentes credited the boom mainly to labor and exchange agreements between the leading Mexican promotions and the biggest U.S. ones; Zeta also noted that WWE bought AAA in April 2025.

When: Friday nights at 8:30

The cards we’ve followed land on Friday nights, with the action starting at 8:30 p.m.: The Crash in February 2025, AAA in June 2026 and Lucka Libre this week. Expect a full card rather than a single fight. Tonight’s Lucka Libre show, for example, has a trios main event with the L.A. Park family, a tag-team semifinal, another trios match, a four-way women’s title bout and two matches with local wrestlers (details).

Tickets

The arena box office is the standard place to buy: Zeta’s announcements for The Crash, AAA and Lucka Libre all point there, and AAA also sold tickets through Primera Fila (primerafila.mx) for its June 2026 card. Prices depend on the promotion and the card; this Friday’s tickets start at 300 pesos. Atly’s venue listing, built from visitor reviews, says the small box office takes credit cards. Big nights do sell out: the box office closed early for Hijo del Santo’s farewell, Zeta reported, so when a legend is on the poster, buy ahead.

Getting there and back

The same Atly listing says there’s no parking and suggests a taxi or bus instead. Cards start at 8:30 p.m., so if you’re crossing back to San Diego afterward, check the border waits before you leave the arena.

Make a day of it

Get in the mood at MULLME, the lucha libre museum in Zona Centro, with masks, embroidered capes and championship belts. It opens Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the 80-peso ticket also covers the collectors’ museum at the same address. Then grab dinner on the way; our taco guide has ideas by time of day.
