Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th

This coming Sunday, March 30th, marks the start of an exciting fishing competition at Rosarito’s picturesque “Playa El Bebé.” The event is the first leg of Baja California’s state fishing championship and is set to attract a large number of angling enthusiasts from both the state and Southern California.

Organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, under the auspices of the state’s sport fishing organization, SEPESCA BC, and supported by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, this tournament promises to be more thrilling than ever. The TJ Fishing Club, led by representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, will host the event.

This tournament is the first of three preliminary rounds that will select participants for the State Championship. The day will begin early, with registration opening at 5:00 AM and the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. Anglers will have until 1:00 PM to have their catches weighed, provided they are in the weigh-in line by closing time.

Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including children, women, mojarra, and other fish species, making it a family-friendly event. As an added bonus, there will be raffles and local fish delicacies to enjoy. For more details on registration costs, rules, and prizes, participants can call 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173 or email tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Further information is also available on the TJ Fishing Club website.

To further support the event, Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial assistance to help cover the expenses associated with organizing the tournament.

Anglers interested in competing can register on the day of the event or pre-register at select locations such as Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada and Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria. The subsequent rounds of the state competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín.

Top performers in these tournaments will earn the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
