**Baja California Weather Advisory: Prepare for High Winds, Rough Seas, and Cooler Temperatures**
By Leo Quintero, March 31, 2025
Residents of Baja California should gear up for a challenging start to the week as severe weather conditions are on the horizon. According to the latest update from CONAGUA, two cold fronts moving in from the northwest and north are merging with the subtropical jet stream, set to deliver strong winds, turbulent seas, and occasional rain showers across the region.
Expect wind gusts ranging from 50 to 70 km/h sweeping through both Baja California and Baja California Sur. These gusts are expected to stir up dust clouds, potentially affecting visibility on roads and in the air. Along the west coast, waves are forecasted to rise between 1 and 3 meters, making conditions risky for smaller vessels.
Here’s what to anticipate in key areas:
– **Tijuana**: Partly cloudy skies with a chance of light rain during the day, and thunderstorms expected early in the morning. Temperatures will fluctuate between 13°C and 17°C, while northwest winds could reach up to 30 km/h by night.
– **Mexicali**: Overcast conditions with temperatures spanning 18°C to 29°C. Strong westerly winds might reach speeds of 56 km/h in the afternoon.
– **Ensenada**: Intermittent clouds accompanied by light rain are forecasted, with temperatures from 14°C to 20°C and west winds peaking at 30 km/h.
– **Tecate**: Anticipate cloudy weather with heavy showers, temperatures between 10°C and 16°C, and wind speeds around 38 km/h.
– **La Rumorosa**: Partly cloudy skies with light rain during the day, transforming into thunderstorms as night falls, with temperatures ranging from 8°C to 15°C and southwest wind gusts reaching up to 79 km/h.
– **Rosarito**: Light rain with potential early-morning thunderstorms, temperatures between 14°C and 16°C, and winds up to 29 km/h, similar to Tijuana.
– **San QuintÃn**: Expect partly cloudy conditions with temperatures from 12°C to 22°C and winds between 30 and 54 km/h.
– **San Felipe**: A mixture of sunshine and clouds, with temperatures ranging from 18°C to 24°C, and southeast winds between 23 and 39 km/h.
– **San Pedro Mártir**: Partly cloudy with temperatures between 7°C and 20°C and winds up to 55 km/h.
Residents are urged to exercise caution, whether traveling on the road or navigating at sea. Keep safety as a priority, Baja!
