### Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints
In a recent development, four officers from the State Police in Rosarito have been temporarily relieved of their duties following the submission of two formal complaints. This action comes shortly after the State Police assumed control of local security measures on March 7th.
According to Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, one of the complaints has been filed with the State Attorney General’s Office. Additionally, a separate complaint was registered with the Internal Control Body responsible for overseeing the security department.
“We have received several complaints concerning the state police, and currently, we are investigating two formal cases,” stated Carrillo RodrÃguez. In response to the growing concerns being shared across social media platforms, he noted that these allegations are also under review, despite the absence of any formal reports.
#### Officers Reassigned Pending Investigation
At present, the four officers have been reassigned as a precautionary measure while the Internal Control Body carries out its investigation. Carrillo RodrÃguez emphasized that there is no direct evidence linking these officers to any misconduct; however, their reassignment is deemed necessary for the ongoing probe.
Since March 7th, the State Police have taken over security operations in Rosarito, temporarily replacing the 264 municipal officers. These local officers are undergoing a comprehensive vetting process, including psychological and medical evaluations, background checks, and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being inspected as part of these measures.
This temporary removal of officers illustrates a rare instance of accountability in law enforcement, with the hopes of initiating a much-needed overhaul of Rosarito’s security forces.
