**UABC Donation Center May Extend Operations Through Friday**
In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane John in Guerrero, the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) in Tijuana has set up a donation center at its Otay campus. The aim is to collect essential supplies for those affected by the disaster. Due to low participation from the student body, the center may keep its doors open beyond the initially planned dates.
Adelia Aramburu, head of the Planning and Projects Department at UABC, noted that only a few students have contributed food and beverages so far. To encourage more donations, the university has extended the collection period and is calling on both students and the public to help. They are advised to check the UABC webpage for updates on the donation schedule.
“We need more publicity. That’s why we added an additional day for those who weren’t able to make purchases in time. They can still contribute,” said Aramburu, urging everyone to stay informed through UABC’s social media channels.
Originally, donations were accepted on Tuesday and Wednesday, but due to a lack of sufficient supplies, the operation was extended to Thursday. Community members, students, and faculty are encouraged to donate canned goods, bottled water, rice, sugar, beans, personal hygiene items, and baby necessities like diapers and formula.
All donations will be forwarded to the municipal DIF, which will handle the logistics of transporting them to the affected region in Guerrero.
