**San Antonio de los Buenos Plant Nears Completion, Marks 80% Progress**

Tijuana – The San Antonio de los Buenos Water Treatment Plant in Tijuana (SAB) is nearing the final stages of construction with 80% completion reported. Jesús García Castro, Director of the State Commission for Public Services of Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito (Cespt), shared that once construction wraps up, operations could begin within a couple of weeks.

García Castro highlighted that the responsibility of the operation and management of SAB will be in the hands of the state utility, following an agreement made to avoid privatization. The facility is poised for efficient functioning, as Cespt staff, trained and experienced, are ready to take over.

The project is being carried out by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), which aims to finalize construction by November. Following completion, the plant will be handed over to the National Water Commission (Conagua) before transitioning to Cespt management, which involves a handover protocol expected to last a few weeks alongside operational testing.

Additionally, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo plans to visit Tijuana to review the plant’s progress. This visit is scheduled for October 26, adding anticipation to the final stages of this crucial infrastructure project.
