**Infant Found Deceased in Plastic Bag in Tijuana Neighborhood**
On Wednesday morning in Tijuana’s Libertad neighborhood, authorities made a grim discovery. A newborn baby was found lifeless inside a blue plastic bag near a local convenience store. The details of the incident emerged around 9:38 AM when a report was made to the local emergency services about a baby located on the public street outside a store on Aquiles Serdán Avenue at the corner with Ruiz Cortines.
Upon arrival, municipal police officers in the Mesa de Otay area confirmed the report, finding the newborn wrapped in clothing inside the bag. They secured the area for investigation. The State’s Attorney General’s Office and Forensic Services later confirmed that the infant was female. Although her exact age was not specified, she measured approximately 54 centimeters in length.
The examination revealed the infant had sustained four injuries: an irregular wound on the left side of the head, a linear wound on the left temple, and two irregular wounds on the chest. Investigators collected evidence, including samples from the bag’s handles and various areas of the baby’s body. Surveillance cameras from nearby establishments are being reviewed, although no arrests have been made yet.

In recent years, the issue of newborn fatalities in Mexico has sparked concern among authorities and the general public. Various reports indicate that economic difficulties, lack of access to proper healthcare, and social issues contribute to this growing problem. In some regions, increased efforts are being made to tackle these root causes by providing better maternal and child healthcare services.
Public initiatives are being encouraged to raise awareness about the importance of prenatal care and social support for expectant mothers. This has been coupled with governmental programs aimed at reducing infant mortality rates and providing resources to improve living conditions for families in need. Despite these efforts, the issue remains pressing and continues to require attention and resources to ensure the safety and wellbeing of newborns across the country.
