### Escuela de Lucha Libre Tijuanense Kicks Off New Courses

The Escuela de Lucha Libre Tijuanense is making waves as it solidifies its standing as a premier institution for young wrestling enthusiasts along the border. Located at the gym of the Auditorio Municipal “Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno”, the school boasts trainers like the celebrated Tijuana wrestler Arandu and a team of young instructors including Destiny. As of February 2025, the school is welcoming students back for another year of training.

Catering to children as young as six and open to all genders, the school offers a comprehensive program that covers the fundamentals of wrestling. Students not only learn about physical conditioning but delve into complex technical aspects, gaining a deep understanding of this beloved sport. The academy actively involves students in professional showcases, providing them a platform to demonstrate what they have learned, such as events held on Avenida Revolución last December.

“We’ve started this season with about 50 students. Age is no barrier, as long as they have an interest in the sport and are willing to persevere. We work on helping them discover and develop skills they may not even know they possess,” says Erik Vázquez, head of the Escuela de Lucha Libre Tijuanense.

The school has observed a notable increase in female participation, with five girls currently enrolled. Vázquez expresses a goal to double this number, highlighting the establishment of an exclusive session for women on Saturdays with a tuition fee of 500 pesos. The school is proud of its female student Valeria Blade, who has already made her professional debut, and hopes to see more like her.

Classes run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, with additional sessions on Saturday mornings from 9 to 11. “We invite everyone with a dream of joining the Escuela de Lucha Libre Tijuanense – this is where the journey begins,” Vázquez adds.
