### Man Sentenced to Over Three Years for Robbing Woman in Mariano Matamoros

In a recent court ruling, Sergio Luna Hernández was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison following his conviction for robbery against a woman in the Mariano Matamoros neighborhood. The State Prosecutor’s Office successfully proved his guilt, confirming that Hernández violently attacked the victim on April 19, 2024, at about 1:10 AM while she was walking in the area.

During the incident, Hernández physically and verbally assaulted the woman, forcibly removing her handbag. After throwing her to the ground, he further threatened and insulted her, enabling him to steal her wallet containing cash. As he attempted to flee the scene, he was apprehended by municipal police officers who were patrolling nearby.

The case proceeded to an intermediate hearing on February 11, where a short-form trial led to his condemnation, ensuring imprisonment, and compensation for damages to the victim, safeguarding her rights.

### Additional Case: Pair Sentenced for Vehicle Theft

In a separate but related court proceeding, Kennedy Orozco Medina and Rosa Emilia González Guijoza were each sentenced to two years in prison and fined 100 UMAS, equivalent to 8,962 pesos, for the unlawful use of a stolen motor vehicle.

Orozco Medina was arrested on June 3, 2024, while driving a white 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe on the Libramiento Sur near the Panamericano neighborhood. The vehicle had been reported stolen on May 30. Meanwhile, González Guijoza was detained on September 13, 2023, in a 2000 Honda Civic as she drove through the Avenida Internacional. The vehicle had also been reported stolen, according to statements from the State Prosecutor’s Office.

Following these events, local authorities have called for increased vigilance and public awareness to help curb incidents of violent theft and vehicle-related crimes. Further measures are anticipated to strengthen community safety in affected areas.
