Tijuana Commerce Opens Up

Tijuana’s Chamber of Commerce prioritizes support for compliant businesses. Global trends show a surge in digital transformations, with the International Chamber of Commerce introducing guidelines to boost online commerce.

**Tijuana’s Chamber of Commerce Opens Doors for Formal Businesses**

In recent developments, the Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Canaco-Servytur) in Tijuana has emphasized its commitment to supporting formally established businesses. President Julián Palombo Saucedo stated that the organization is open to affiliating businesses that operate within the legal framework, pay their dues, and meet the necessary regulations. This declaration follows complaints from various sector representatives about denied affiliations due to the upcoming Board of Directors election on February 17.

Palombo Saucedo clarified that the Chamber was established to support and associate businesses that are formally compliant with laws, and the affiliation requirements are consistent with the Federal Law on Chambers of Commerce. Although acknowledging that yesterday’s demonstration included a few members of the Chamber, he did not specify if these individuals failed to meet re-affiliation criteria.

At a recent press conference unveiling the digital platform Red Empresarial Canaco-Tijuana, Palombo suggested a possible attack on the platform by demonstrators intending to disrupt services vital for affiliates’ benefits. During a public course hosted by the Chamber, eight young individuals linked with the recent protest were reportedly aggressive, highlighting ongoing tensions.

The Chamber was closed yesterday due to a critical meeting with migration officials and other business leaders, focused on organizing a job fair for migrants set for February 25. The priority was to maintain the integrity of these discussions without interruptions.

Starting this week, the Red Empresarial Canaco-Tijuana platform is operational, allowing affiliate businesses to create websites and transact through options like PayPal and Mercado Pago. This digital tool will be available to members as part of their subscription, offsetting its standard 50,000 pesos service fee. The platform features a directory of 12,000 establishments and future plans for merchandise delivery partnerships.

**Secondary Update: International Chamber of Commerce Trends**

In global commerce news, the advent of digital transformation in business operations continues to make headlines. A study reveals that more than 70% of businesses worldwide are adopting digital platforms to streamline operations, increase market reach, and improve customer interactions. E-commerce has especially witnessed a significant rise, accelerated by the ongoing need for remote solutions.

In response to these trends, the International Chamber of Commerce has announced new guidelines to support businesses in this digital shift, ensuring secure online transactions and compliance with international trade regulations. These efforts aim to provide a cohesive framework encouraging global cooperation and standardization in digital commerce practices. As digital tools become increasingly central to business strategies, organizations that adapt are anticipated to see growth in efficiency and profitability.
