Antonio Gates Inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame

The former tight end for the Los Angeles Chargers, Antonio Gates, has been selected for induction into the NFL Hall of Fame. Gates will be part of the 2025 Hall of Fame class, chosen ahead of Super Bowl LIX, scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 9, at the Superdome in New Orleans. Joining him in this class are notable players Eric Allen, Jared Allen, and Sterling Sharpe.

During his illustrious career with the Chargers, Gates, who played when the team was based in San Diego, made eight Pro Bowl appearances and was named All-Pro three times. The Associated Press recognized him as part of the All-Decade Team for the 2000s, and he was also included in the 50th-anniversary All-Team for the Chargers. Over 16 years in the NFL, Gates amassed a remarkable 955 receptions for 11,841 yards and 116 touchdowns.

The 2025 Hall of Fame class will be immortalized on Saturday, August 2, this year, at the Hall of Fame shrine located in Canton, Ohio, before the first preseason game kicks off.
