**Local Cinema Night Shines in Tijuana**
March 20, 2025 – Tijuana: This Thursday marks a celebration of local filmmaking talent as “Cinema Night Club” takes place at Lumi Plaza Fiesta. The event, starting at 6:30 p.m., will showcase short films from Tijuana’s burgeoning film community and offer live music and entertainment.
This event is particularly special for Bianca Arvizu, a filmmaker whose journey in the local industry spans eight years. This year, Bianca makes her directorial debut with the short film “Ecos de Luz.” In a recent interview, Bianca expressed, “Cinema is the art that combines all arts, and if you’ve had a lifelong passion, you must pursue it.” Her words underscore the collaborative spirit of Baja California’s creative community, which has supported her throughout her first film project.
Local filmmakers are making waves on the national scene, building a supportive network of directors, cinematographers, writers, and producers who are paving the way for innovative regional cinema. For Bianca, the backing she received was pivotal; her circle, including her husband Marlon Morales (co-founder of Producciones Contraluz), played a crucial role in bringing her film to life. “It’s not easy to get a film project off the ground. It takes many hands, resources, and skilled individuals,” she stated, highlighting the collective effort behind her work.
“Cinema Night Club” aims to foster a renewed interest in regional cinema and encourage local businesses to engage with this art form. The event is a testament to the vibrant culture and collaborative spirit among Tijuana filmmakers. Key contributors to Bianca’s film include Marlon as the screenwriter, Diego Quintero as the producer, and other talented crew members who lent their expertise.
Six filmmakers will present their works at the event: Marco Celis with “Luz de sol,” Marlon Morales with “Años sin luz” and “Hypocrisis,” Diego Hernández with “Callejones,” Alejandra Vidal with “Microcastillo,” Alejandro Montalvo with “Hambre,” and Gilberto González Penilla with “Tere.” These creators not only support Bianca but will also engage in a dialogue with the audience after the screenings.
