**Body Found in Vehicle Alongside a Cartel Warning in Tijuana**
A chilling discovery was made in the Natura neighborhood of Tijuana on the afternoon of February 8, 2025. Inside a blue SUV, a body wrapped in plastic and a threatening message from a drug cartel were found. Authorities received a report just before 5 PM about a Ford Expedition, license plate C50NSN2, parked at the intersection of Vistas del Sol Avenue and Pintor Street. Upon investigation, police confirmed the presence of a human corpse; the victim’s identity remains unknown.
Alongside the body was a yellow card with a menacing message directed at local municipal officers, warning them against supporting specific individuals involved with drug operations. The note threatened two identified police officers, asserting they were being “observed.”
This incident followed another discovery just a day before when human remains accompanied by another cartel message were found at Plaza RÃo’s parking lot. This previous message targeted homicide unit officials within Baja California’s Attorney General’s office, demanding they reduce their investigative pressure.
Earlier in January, a ballistic expert from the same office was injured in a shooting incident in Tijuana’s Pórticos de San Antonio area. The attack, involving two young men in a Toyota Matrix, occurred after a driving altercation with the expert.
In an unrelated event, the body of another person was found charred the same day in Vista Horizonte, further illustrating the violence affecting the region.

Recent weeks have seen an alarming increase in violence and cartel activity across Tijuana. The discovery of bodies and intimidation tactics emphasizes the ongoing challenge authorities face in maintaining order. Residents of Tijuana, a city bordering the United States, continue to express growing fears for their safety amid escalating tensions between rival factions and law enforcement.
Efforts by local and federal law enforcement to curb cartel influence seem to be met with violent pushback, as evidenced by the frequent threats and violent acts. The complexity and brutality of these attacks suggest a strategic effort by cartels to instill fear and exert control over both civilians and authorities.
As security forces work tirelessly to dismantle these criminal networks, cooperation between different levels of government and the international community remains crucial. Analysts stress the importance of addressing the root causes of this violence, including poverty and corruption, to achieve long-lasting peace in the region.
