On the morning of October 14, 2024, Gerardo González Zamorano, the sub-commander of the State Investigation Agency based in Tecate, was fatally shot in the Loma Bonita neighborhood of Tijuana. Preliminary reports suggest that around 7:00 AM, the police official was inside a pickup truck parked at a residence on Avenida Loma Bonita when he was attacked.

González Zamorano, who sustained gunshot wounds to his face and head, was found lifeless in the driver’s seat. Additionally, a piece of cardboard with a threatening message was discovered next to his body, warning several police officials, including the deceased.
