She highlighted the impact of the 1968 student movement, stating, “It was a painful time, but it opened the door to political participation for many young people and society as a whole, moving towards a more democratic country.” She further linked this historical milestone to the political changes in 2018 under President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, emphasizing the movement’s ongoing influence on democracy and justice in Mexico.

Sheinbaum also unveiled the schedule for the new weekly segments during the press briefings. Mondays will focus on “healthy living,” Tuesdays on “Mexican humanism and historical memory,” Wednesdays on the “lie detector” (replacing the previous segment “who’s who in the lies”), Thursdays on “women in history,” and Fridays will feature “suave patria,” a segment celebrating events that make Mexicans feel proud.

She announced plans to discuss constitutional and legislative initiatives regarding women’s rights on October 3, 2024, and scholarship programs on October 4, 2024.

Key officials present at the inaugural conference included Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, head of the Ministry of the Interior (SEGOB), Ernestina Godoy Ramos, head of the Federal Executive’s Legal Department (CJEF), and Pablo Gómez Álvarez, head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF).
