### José Luis Dagnino Becomes First Mayor of San Felipe

After a lengthy legal battle, José Luis Dagnino López has officially taken office as the first constitutional mayor of San Felipe, a newly established municipality. On September 30, 2024, around 7:00 PM, Dagnino López, one of the main proponents for the municipalization of San Felipe, was sworn into office in a ceremony held at the San Felipe boardwalk with the Sea of Cortez serving as the picturesque backdrop.

Dagnino López’s transition into the role of mayor is expected to be smooth, as he has already been heading the foundational municipal council. Thus, the handover of responsibilities is likely to occur seamlessly. He announced that most of his team, which has been working with him, will continue in their roles for the next three years.

Accompanied by deputy Juan Manuel Molina, his chief supporter, Dagnino López took the oath of office along with his mainly Morena-affiliated council. Notably, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda and the President of the High Court of Justice of the State (TSJE), Alejandro Isaac Fragozo López, were not present at the event.

In his inaugural address, Dagnino López expressed gratitude to the community of San Felipe for their support in both the municipalization process and his election as mayor. He emphasized that the success of this historic opportunity lies in their hands.

Dagnino López outlined his primary objective: electrifying the Valle Chico area in Southern San Felipe, an initiative that requires an investment of 400 million pesos. He stated that this project would necessitate collaboration with the State Executive Power and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). According to him, this development will spark significant real estate and livestock investment in the region.
