### Fire Breaks Out on DIF Rosarito Truck

A truck belonging to DIF Rosarito caught fire early Saturday morning within the premises of the Municipal Sports Institute in Rosarito, Baja California. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Ernesto Díaz, the director of the institute, stated in an interview that the truck had been out of service for years and was stored at the IMDER facilities due to a lack of space. “I was notified by the IMDER director around 1:00 AM that a security guard saw flames in that area of the field. It’s an extensive area, and by the time he managed to reach it, the fire was already uncontrollable,” Díaz mentioned.

The vehicle, a 1995 Dina model, was acquired during Silvano Abarca Macklis’s administration (1998-2001 and 2013-2016) through a tax office auction, which minimized its cost, Díaz assured. “We don’t know exactly when it was left at IMDER because it was already out of service by the time I joined the institution over two years ago,” he added. Plans were discussed to repair the vehicle along with another malfunctioning truck, but priorities shifted to other tasks.

Díaz mentioned that the cause of the fire remains uncertain and that he approached the State Attorney’s Office for a report. However, due to the weekend and holiday, the office advised him to return on Tuesday, September 17.

He was apprehended and positively identified by the victims.
